Mason cattle company is a family owned purebred Angus and commercial farm. We are located in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee near Dale Hollow Lake.

Our goal is to produce cattle that excel with phenotype and genotype. We use available tools through the American Angus and method genomics to produce functional cattle that can work throughout the country.

Jared Brown established Jared Brown & Son Angus on November 13, 1961, with the purchase of two registered Angus heifers from local Angus breeder, Harold Bilbrey. From that date forward the goal at JBS has been to strive to produce the ultimate Angus Cow for the sole purpose of offering superior bulls to our commercial bull customers and top end females to our fellow Registered Angus Breeders.

JBS has over the past decades put extreme selection pressure on feet and leg structure, teat and udder quality, slick haircoats, fleshing ease on grass, fertility, maternal function and docility, which leads to longevity. Some in the Beef industry call all of these “convenience traits”, at JBS they are “absolutely essential”.

JBS was a founding partner of the Genetic Excellence Angus Bull Sale, which just celebrated its 20 th year providing bullsto our commercial customers. JBS has for over three decades consigned registered females to sales throughout the southeast. JBS is proud to join our friends the Mason’s and Holt’s at the Tennessee Traditions Angus Female Sale.

After over 30 years in the dairy industry, David Holt made the switch to seedstock black Angus in 2006 and it has been a passion for the whole family ever since.

Our focus is raising quality cattle both in person and on paper. We strive to raise maternal cattle that are good footed, reproductively successful, and can stay in your herd for many years while still being genetically relevant to the Angus breed based on their balanced EPD profiles.

We are proud partners with JBS Angus in the Genetic Excellence Angus Bull Sale where we sell our bulls every January. We also market our steers through our local beef program and we have previously marketed our females through private treaty and consignment sales across the Southeast.
